100 troy once coin
Anyone know where I can find info about a SAE 100 troy coin? I tried google but more garbage than useful info.

Re: 100 troy once coin
There are no official 100 oz ASEs from the US mint. they are all 1oz
The largest government mint coins i know of are the Australian kookaburra, Koala and lunars, i believe they make kilo and 10 kilo coins |
Re: 100 troy once coin
I had in my hands a 1997 100 troy once coin what appeared to be a SAE (running liberty on the front and a eagle on the back). Is this something other than a US government coin?

Re: 100 troy once coin
There are several of the private mints which made these over the years, could be from the Washington Mint, I don't recall seeing any though over 25 ounces myself.

Don't tell me, you are going to put it on a gold chain and hang it around your neck...? :452:

Man I like the way you think! The Flava Flave 80's look, it's got to be making a come back! On the back of the coin I remember a w on top of a m, could be washington mint. |
Re: 100 troy once coin
Of course they're not govt. issued. There are several "private mint" lookalikes anywhere from 1 oz to one troy pound (12 troy ounces) plus a few that are a little heavier, but frankly no one gives a hoot about them.
I have never seen or even heard of a 100 oz private mint coin. It would cost WAY too much for a private company to produce the dies and have the equipment for the actual striking of the blank. |

I got news for you there are one hundred troy once SAE's out there, who makes them I don't know but I'm on my way to finding out! Have a hoot on that! |

It looks just like this but only a 1997 date and has MW on the back, no front makings. http://www.moderncoinmart.com/cart1/...hp?imageid=577 http://www.moderncoinmart.com/cart1/...hp?imageid=578 |
Re: 100 troy once coin
I was refering to the 100oz replicas, not the others. I have a bunch of the half pound (6 oz) replicas in stock that are struck and proof finish.

Re: 100 troy once coin
That would be a seven pound "pizza pie"
Why the US mint never got into making bigger peices I will never know But the Perth dominates the iregular size market. I would Kill to see a Kilo size SAE. T |
Re: 100 troy once coin
So back on track, anyone know where information about this 100 troy once coin can be found?

Re: 100 troy once coin
Somewhat related, if I remember correctly in one of the coin publications recently they had mentioned that the US Mint was either considering or going to produce I think a 3 (or 2) oz silver coin. Sorry can't remember all the details.

Re: 100 troy once coin
Maybe it was grams instead of troy ounces?
I found a listing for 1000-gram american eagle, which comes out to just over 32 troy ounces. http://cgi.ebay.com/1-THOUSAND-1000-...item2a0376beb9 Just a little pricey for me. |
